PS CAFE

30th May 2009

PS. Cafe
28B Harding Road
(near Dempsey Road)
SingaporeTel: 64793343Weekend : 9.30am - 5pm brunchWeekday: 11.30am - 5pm Lunch and 6.30pm - 12pm Dinner

The lush greeneries and the quaint place which houses restaurants restored from the former army barracks provide one with a feeling of serenity, out-of-Singapore feeling and a very lively place to hang out with frens and families. PS. Cafe, another chic place situated in the woods, off the beaten path, as you have to walk through the long narrow planks to the cafe, is another discovery in Dempsey. With timber flooring, high ceilings and full glass panels which fronts the lush greeneries, and zinc ceilings in sight, the interior decor is reminscent of a Australian laidback cafe as the walls are awashed in white. The place is elegant, hip and trendy yet simplistic and definitely to me it's a fashion statement and expression of the owners as well.

PS. Cafe at Dempsey attracts many expatriates to this secluded place off Harding Road and is often packed with diners. It has spun off as an inhouse cafe within their apparel shop and is now a successful chain which offers Australian inspired cuisine. Sydney daily newspaper are seen hanging at the counter and offers to keep the Australian close to home.

Food is good and delectable. Even the muesli is served in a big bowl with lots of yoghout topped with berries and it looks so scrumptious and healthy for breakfast and I think that will be my next order in the next opportune visit. Overall very very relaxing place surrounded with lush greeneries and fresh air that you can dream of Alice in Wonderland in the woods. Perfect weekend breakfast at an idyllic place but spoiled by the very expensive bill.....

Back to nature on a Saturday morning, away from the crowd, noise, pollution and such idylic and serene backdrop of pleasing greens offers a nice retreat to all.

Portobello stacks @ SGD22.00Visually pleasing to see a burst of colour and artwork on a plate consisting Poached Eggs stacked with roasted Portobello Mushrooms, wilted spinach and creamy smoked cheddar potato mushroom.
PS BIG BACON AND EGGS @ SGD20.00
You can have a choice of Poached, Fried or Scrambled Eggs served with oven roasted basil pesto tomato, thick stem asparagus, bacons, buttered toast, home made baked beans and beef sausage. Both my niece and nephew ordered this individually and wiped their plates clean except of course the vege part. Definitely expensive for morning breakfast but yet the crowd keep strolling in.
PS Fish and Chips @ SGD26.00
Huge overflowing bowl with thick cuts of chips below. The fish is fresh, light and crispilly tempura battered with only three small fillets, the chunky chips fills the gap to make your meal lasting through lunch to dinner. It comes with tartar sauce and kaffir lime aioli and sticks of greens of carrot, french bean and asparagus.
Profiteroles @ SGD16.00Choux pastry puffs with vanilla ice-cream fillings and heavily drench in chocolate sauce. My dream dessert as I always enjoyed profiteroles but here the pastry puffs are not as light as it should be but many spoon came to my rescue and that saved me from having sinfully rich dessert all to myself.
Tea for two and latte for me ends the satisfying meal with some hot sips.
what a Pleasantly Surprising Cafe @ DEMPSEY !

Dempsey enclave of thriving hub of eateries not only offers such haven for food but makes a very good quick getaway and retreat within Singapore being just minutes away from Singapore Botanical Garden.

The co-owners of PS. Cafe are Philip Chin and Peter Teo who are fashion designers and they have fused fashion with food, being foodies themselves. Both owned a chain of 6 outlets of street wears Project Shop Blood Brothers apparels in Singapore since 1989, with chains in Malaysia and Indonesia as well. PS. Cafe too has grown to three, at Paragon and Palais and growth seems to be on their cards.

Every touch counts on everytable with unique flower to brighten up your day

Tall orders of the day with huge menu boards on display

The wash basin is not spared and is kept clean and the brightened with a big bouquet of spider orchids prettily tucked at one corner.
PS. Cafe stands for Project Shop Cafe

what a cool place to hangout, reading a good book, and watching time flies by ....

a little exp, no doubt, but at least the presentation of the food, and the taste justified the price paid?

I've gone to their outlet at Paragon with XLB and HairyBerry... nice and yes, quite the expat flavour... This branch looks nicer though being semi-al fresco... Maybe for my next visit! :)
