Whenever we cross the Tuas Checkpoint and onward to the Second Link (opened on 2 January 1998), a bridge connecting between Singapore and Malaysia, you will see a nice marina on the lefthand side . This is the prestigious Raffles Marina Country Club.

One afternoon, braving the stormy weather, I travelled all the way to the western side of Singapore and in fact the taxi driver refused to accept the fare and insist on dropping me somewhere where I can grab another cab, reason that place is 'ulu' out of place, and he is not familiar. With the weather being kind to me, it continue to rage with heavy downpour, the taxi driver relented and we continued the journey.

I was there for a reason and when the appointment was over, I decided to enjoy a meal at the Marina Bistro since it offers such therapeutic marina view of yatchs berthing alongside with wooden plank walks and the storm has also calmed and no longer raining. Such moments with the alfresco dining and fantastic view of the harbour and sea, is rare.

The MARINA Bistro offers an ecletic menu of both Asian and Western fares and I sampled their Beef Hor Fun and a glass of Peach smoothie and the verdict is enjoyable food with waterfront dining at affordable price. In fact this place is open to the public and offers the executives from nearby industrial area an hour long lunch escape from the drudgery of work just to enjoy a good meal by the sea.
